History
Ages Engineering began in 2008, shortly after the development industry bottomed out. Engineers were being laid off across the country and for some reason it appeared to us to be the right time to start a Company.
We grew slowly and vowed to remain small so we could adequately service our clients. By 2016, we were firmly established and had remained a small company. Our main office remained in Puyallup, and we added an office in Yakima County to service central and eastern Washington.
The next few years were challenging. The development business expanded rapidly. We were receiving three times the number of phone calls and emails requesting new work. We resisted accepting new work for a while until we realized there were so many people in the region who wanted to remodel, or build a home, deck or retaining wall, but could not get a geotechnical engineer to answer their calls or return their emails. This predicament for the homeowner cemented our decision to grow. We hired several new employees and tripled our workload. Things were still working out OK.
In the spring of 2020, everything changed. We lost all of our employees, but not our workload. A project often takes 2 years to complete, once started. With no employees and an overburdened workload, our typical timelines of two to three weeks became much longer. We simply did not have the staff to finish all of the project that were started. Most of our clients understood, some however, were understandably unhappy.
Presently, we have come full circle. Our original intent of remaining small, so we can adequately service our clients. Our goal, only assume as much work as we can sufficiently accomplish within the constraints of time, cost and quality.
